Why It's Required?
In 1950, the 81st Congress of the United States, recognizing the importance of FFA as an integral part of the program of vocational agriculture, granted a federal charter to FFA. It is written into the core standards and objectives for agriculture education courses that FFA leadership principles be taught. It provides the foundation that makes FFA an integral part of the 3-Component Model of School-Based Agricultural Education. FFA DEGREE AWARDS:
Greenhand- This degree is the first degree and FFA member can earn in the program.
Chapter- This is the second degree earned and is the highest award a chapter can
present.
State- This award is presented to the top of the top from across the state.
American- This is the highest ranking an FFA member can receive. Only 1% of FFA
will earn this degree. Student must be 1 year out of high school to apply.
